These organic pasture raised eggs are humanely raised by small Amish and Mennonite farmers in the midwest. From the "Farmer's Henhouse" website: Farmers Hen House began in 1997 with an Amish man's idea that producing organic eggs could be a way to keep small farms in the Kalona, Iowa area sustainable. Our network now includes several local family farms across southeastern Iowa and northern Missouri.
Farmivore is proud to partner with these small Amish farms "from abroad" since commercial eggs production of genuine pasture-raised eggs is not readily available in Southern California. We continue to be on the lookout for a more local source that can supply us, but in the meantime we are happy to bring farm products from more rural areas of the country to our highly-populated Southern California. View the video to see every step of the process from Farmer's Hen House. These eggs are vastly superior in quality to a typical supermarket egg, and Farmer's Hen House (like Farmivore!) is working with multiple small farms to keep their farms in business in an age when farmers struggle for a living.
